Acrylic Landscape Painting Class at Assiniboine Park

Beautiful landscape paintings can remind us of special places that have touched our hearts. In this workshop, Cori Jaye will help you create an acrylic landscape painting of a place that is special to you. We will begin by using a grid technique to plan out your canvas before sketching the preliminary line drawing. You will then select and plan your colour palette. The first half of the class will be dedicated to the preparation of your canvas for painting. In the second half, Cori Jaye will assist you with any questions or technical issues you encounter while executing your painting. No drawing experience necessary.

Students must bring a 4x6 or 5x7 (size specific) printed photo of their chosen landscape (able to draw on - not the only original photo). Extra photos for inspiration will be provided.

At the end of the class take home your own painting. Beginners welcome!

About the Instructor:
Cori Jaye Elston studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Ontario and has a Graphic Design Diploma from Red River College. A selection of Cori's vibrant and dynamic art was featured in the Community Gallery at The Pavilion in the Summer 2018. "My chosen subject matter surrounds Love, Power, and Spirituality. I often paint romantic scenes, expressing feelings of connection and respect. It is also common for me to paint animals which hold particularly powerful spiritual meanings, such as lions or elephants that signify special strengths. My paintings are an expression of my yearning to share love and power in this reality and often reflect my connection to the non physical world."
