Mystical Furry Friends @ Assiniboine Park

Opening: May 20th 2018, 1:00pm-4:00pm

Local artist Cori Jaye Elston has created a series of paintings that follow the adventures of the animals at Assiniboine Park for their Pavilion Gallery. The show, titled Mystical Furry Friends, opens May 20th and runs until August 23rd, 2018.

“For this showcase, I wanted to bring family and community together to the park to experience the fun and at times comical nature of my bold intense colour palette,” said Elston. “Animals are connected to us all and play an integral role of helping the community learn and grow at Assiniboine Park.”  

Mystical Furry Friends is free to attend this summer. The opening will be on Sunday, May 20 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. There will be free coffee and cookies to celebrate the event. In addition to the paintings, prints and greeting cards featuring Elston’s work will be for sale at the gallery.

Elston will also be hosting a special art class at the Pavilion Gallery in front of her paintings June 19, 2018 from 6:00-9:30 p.m. The class will teach students how to paint their favorite animal using a photo of their choice.
